Unit One Lesson Four
Unit one lesson four was about algebraic proofs. A proof is a an argument that uses logic, definition, and properties to prove an answer. The purpose of these proofs is to show each step on how you came to your final answer and the logic behind it. To do this, you need to take a chart that is similar to a t-chart. On one side of it will be the statements. and on the other side will be the reasons. For the reasons, you will have to include properties which are listed here:
In addition to the properties listed above, you may need to use definitions when doing algebraic proofs. To do this , all you need to do is list, "Definition of _______" and put what definition you are using.
- Addition Property of Equality (APOE)
- Subtraction Property of Equality (SPOE)
- Multiplication Property of Equality (MPOE)
- Division Property of Equality (DPOE)
- Reflexive Property
- Transitive Property
- Symmetric Property
- Distribution Property
- Substitution Property
In addition to the properties listed above, you may need to use definitions when doing algebraic proofs. To do this , all you need to do is list, "Definition of _______" and put what definition you are using.
